### **Position Summary**
We are seeking a highly experienced, detail-oriented, and strategic Chief Pharmacist to lead, manage, and optimize our hospital’s pharmacy operations. The ideal candidate will oversee all clinical and administrative functions of the department, ensuring seamless medication distribution, strict financial and inventory controls, and absolute adherence to NABH, State Pharmacy Council, and central regulatory standards. ### **Key Responsibilities**
**1. Strategic Operations & Departmental Leadership**
* Direct, coordinate, and evaluate the day-to-day operations of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency pharmacy services.
* Establish short- and long-term departmental goals aligned with overall hospital policies and strategic objectives.
* Formulate, implement, and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all drug storage, compounding, and dispensing units.
* Serve as the primary Liaison for drug-related committees, including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee and the Infection Control Committee.
**2. NABH Compliance, Quality, & Regulatory Governance**
* Enforce total compliance with NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) standards, statutory regulations, and local drug laws.
* Oversee high-risk medication protocols, including the safe storage, handling, labeling, and disposal of Look-Alike Sound-Alike (LASA) drugs, high-alert medications, and narcotics.
* Establish continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives, conducting routine internal audits, drug utilization reviews, and safety assessments.
* Manage medication error reporting systems, analyze root causes (RCA), and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to mitigate clinical risks.
**3. Inventory Control, Procurement, & Financial Management**
* Lead supply chain operations, optimizing par-levels, reorder points, and turnover rates to ensure zero stock-outs of vital medicines while minimizing waste.
* Conduct regular ABC, VED, and FSN inventory analyses to manage high-value pharmaceuticals and slow-moving stocks effectively.
* Oversee vendor evaluations, purchase orders, cold-chain monitoring, and incoming drug quality verification process.
* Monitor departmental budgets, analyze cost trends, and present periodic financial performance reports to executive leadership.
**4. Clinical Care & Patient Counseling**
* Supervise the accurate verification, compounding, and timely dispensing of prescription medications for both inpatient and outpatient care settings.
* Provide clinical consultations to medical staff regarding therapeutic substitutions, contraindications, drug interactions, and dosage adjustments.
* Conduct structured medication counseling for patients and caregivers, covering proper usage, potential side effects, storage guidelines, and adherence strategies.
* Implement robust antibiotic stewardship programs alongside clinical teams to monitor and restrict inappropriate antimicrobial utilization.
**5. Staff Management, Training, & Professional Development**
* Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate a team of clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
* Design ongoing training programs covering emergency response protocols, customer service standards, safety compliance, and hospital information systems (HIS).
* Cultivate a culture of accountability, continuous learning, patient safety, and professional ethics across all pharmacy personnel.

### **Qualifications & Key Requirements**
* **Education:** Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) / Pharm.D from a recognized institution.
* **Licensure:** Active registration with the State Pharmacy Council.
* **Experience:** Minimum 8–12 years of clinical pharmacy experience in a reputed hospital setting, with at least 3–5 years in a senior supervisory or managerial role.
* **Technical Skills:**
* Deep expertise in NABH drug management and safety standards.
* Proficiency in Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and specialized pharmacy inventory software.
